Edamame in Calgary?

londonfog Jan 9, 2008 07:31 AM

I'm looking for fresh soybeans so I can make my own edamame at home. So far I have found nothing at the Pacific Place T & T or at the Shun Fat on International Ave. Does anyone know where I could find some? Thanks!

Edit: I would prefer if I didn't have to buy those microwave steamer packs they sell at Co-op/Safeway/etc... my roommate buys those and they're pretty gross.

Thanks, all. I found them after work at Safeway today and enjoyed edamame that wasn't maimed by a microwave.

Superstore carries Edamame fresh and frozen... I've seen them fresh at the sushi bar(but not all the time) and frozen in the organics aisle. "Green Organic" shelled(frozen but not in a steamer bag)...same kind they carry at Planet Organic but PO carries them shelled and unshelled and the bags are 500g/17.5oz... not the huge boxes like Costco carries.

We get them at Costco - they have huge frozen 12 packs, and they are really good - way better then anything we've gotten from Co-op or T&T (frozen). They are packed in the microwave steamer packs, but we just empty them into a regular steamer.

The edamame is really quite nice and fresh looking. You need a good size freezer though, cause its a pretty big box.

I get my frozen organic edamame at Safeway. They're not in steamer packs though, just frozen like the Green Giant peas and corn bags.
