East Village/LES - Saturday nite
Looking for great food, not super expensive in either the East Village/LES for Saturday nite -- (that honors reservations w/in a reasonable time.) I had read about the following on Ave B, but know nothing about them - 26 Seats, Max, Back Forty or Il Buco, Seymour Burton. Thanks!!
Last I checked Max does not take reservation and the wait it pretty long. Try Kuma Inn for a delicious well priced meal.
Kuma Inn is excellent - atmospehere isn't great, buit its good for groups and the asian tapas-style food is terrific.
I would also recommend these on the LES:
I havent there in a while but last time I went Bao 111 was terrific and very reasonably priced with great drinks.
It's nothing innovative, but Takahachi is great for straight ahead home style Japanese at terrific prices (especially their early bird special which is like the 'greatest hits' of Japanese food). Its one of the few neighborhood places that has good sushi AND cooked dishes.
I've heard good things about Alias in the LES (is it still open though?) and i also liked Chubo and Tides (great seafood in a mod setting).
Max is near and dear to my heart, but it doesn’t take reservations – never has, and I bet it never will.
26 Seats is not good.
Back Forty – I’ve heard good things about it, but it’s expensive for what it is.
Kuma Inn is really good but all those dishes can add up fast.
Alias is great and takes reservations.
Apizz is great, but it’s expensive.
Klong if you want great Thai in a nice space. It’s on St. Mark’s b/w 2nd and 3rd (not really EV/LES, but close enough).
Falai for modern and wonderfully executed Italian.
Freeman's (if you have a party of 6 or more) for yummy modern American
I always like Lavagna on 5th b/w a&b. I have been hearing interesting things about The Smith on 10th
