For basic fare (breakfast sandwiches, egg plates) I'd head to Boerum Hill Food Company on Smith Street (excellent breakfast sandwich on ciabatta). For something slightly more elaborate, I'd go to Teresa's on Montague Street.

Le Peit Cafe opens early on the weekend, and their garden (it's enclosed) is a beautiful place to eat. It's on Court Street, between Nelson and Luquer. It's at the edge of the neighborboods that you mention, but I really like their breakfast food.

I second that emotion! Le Petite Cafe is magical and fabulous. You can eat out back in the winter. I'm mad at myself that it took me years of living in the nabe before I went there (I didn't know about the magical back). Brunch/breakfast menu is huge and delicious, and the waitstaff has always been very nice accommodating, too. Go there.

Le Petit Cafe is indeed a lovely place to eat and the food is pretty good. But I have had the least attentive and rudest service the two times I've been there.

While there is a minority of places that are consistently awful or terrific, and that's just their thing, I feel that restaurant service is a crap-shoot. For example, the worst service I've ever experienced was at 360 the third time I ate there. There was no reason for it, and the previous 2 visits were fine. Just one of those things--but I never went back! So I would understand if you didn't want to go back to Petite, either. What a shame.

Doesn't Miriam open at 9a?

The intarwebs said that Miriam opens at 10a on Saturday, which is why I excluded it.

gotcha. I knew that they (at least used to) open at 9a on weekdays.
I know they're open early on weekdays for b'fast -- not positive about weekends... but I'm a huge fan of the french toast at Bar Tabac, especially when you can show up early and avoid the crowd.

Provence En Boite on Smith; Naidres on Henry; Tea Lounge on Court (the latter two are coffee/tea shops that serve egg dishes...)

I recommend Boerum Hill Food Company. I've had breakfast there tons of times and it's been great every time.

Thanks everyone. That's a great selection to choose from.

Carroll Gardens Diner, at Smith and Bergen.
Old school diner, nothing fancy, a tad pricey, but a staple for me.
