Hi All,

I have a few girlfriends coming in from out of town and we would like to go out to dinner on a Saturday night before heading out on the town. We would like a lively place with a fun atmosphere and good food. Thought about Luna Park and Cobras & Matadors (won't take a reservation for 7), but would like some other suggestions. A few have not been to LA before so maybe a unique experience would be nice.

Cobras & Matadors would be a tight squeeze for 7 anyway. What about AOC? Staying with the tapas theme of C&M, you could also try out Tasca. If you prefer small plates by way of Asian fusion, there's also Celadon.

      Bar Marmont

Great intro to L.A., great food, convenient to the rest of the strip.

Yes, I would definitely second Bar Marmont...the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was fun. However, be warned that the tables are small and more like bar tables --- but the food is served in appropriately sized dishes.

I'm also recommend Pizzeria Mozza if you can get in there.

They have a side room that's separated from the rest of the tables, giving it sort of a cabana feel. Seven people could easily fit in there, even though the dishes would spread out over the tables. But Bar Marmont is an excellent rec.

Bar Marmont and Tasca are both great suggestions, but my vote goes to Comme Ca. The food is excellent (and reasonably priced), the bartenders make delicious and fun drinks and it has a really lively atmosphere. Also, every time I go I see some pretty big name celebrities (Kirsten Dunst, Ashley Olsen, etc), which is always fun for out of town guests.
