Party of 14 - 16 where to go?

steph1steph Jan 8, 2008 11:53 AM

Any ideas of where we should go? It's for a birthday party where not everyone knows eachother. We're mid-30's, budget is not an object. Just want to have a great time, with great food and atmosphere. Thank you!!

Birthday party food...... the type of food that a majority of people will be happy with! Prefer downtown. Thank you.

      Trattoria Dell'Arte [56th and 7th Ave.]
      has a great upstairs room
      Delicious antipasto bar

I like Trattoria Del'Arte as well, but the way the menu is structured, it's very easy to get slammed price wise.. A lotta bucks for veggies and salad items, albeit very tasty ones.
Since I did notice the OP said price was not a concern, I'd agree the Antipasto is both visually appealing and delicious

I organized a party for 15 at Mercadito (11th and B). It's small, but the space worked. I pre-ordered a bunch of small plates to share with the table. It took some effort because I had to find out dietary constraints, but the food/service was great. The shrimp tacos are a must, and their mixed drinks are also very fresh and strong. The only disappointments were the guacamole (surprisingly so-so) and the desserts (which were nothing special, but we were all so full by that point it didn’t matter). We went with the option for 4 dishes per person, but 3 dish option probably would have served us fine. People drank varying amounts, and it totaled about $80/pp.
