I have a cupcake recipe which I would like to convert to a birthday layer cake. The recipe makes 24 cupcakes. Would I use the same recipe to make a cake? Would that be enough for 2 round cake pans? Do I need to change the recipe at all? (FYI, the recipe is Dave Lieberman's Guiness chocolate cupcakes). Thanks! Tue Jan 08 09:10:37 -0800 2008 87282 lawgirl3278 1 3273459 Since most cake mixes can be baked either in two 8 inch rounds or a muffin tin I'd think the volume for your recipe should be sufficient. As a general rule, cupcakes obviously take less time to bake than layer cakes. For two eight inch round pans the baking time would need to be 35-40 min rather than 18-20min.
