What's your favorite lounge-y food place?

Where do you like to go for good food where the setup is kind of lounge-y, with low tables, couches, etc. Preferably in Brooklyn, but really I would love to hear about any borough. Any kind of food, but preferably good and unique. That's not so much to ask for in NYC, is it?

  1. I'm not quite sure of your definition of a lounge, but I'll give it a shot.

Tamari in Park Slope has some low chairs that are very loungey. I've only been there for lunch, when the lighting is bright but I imagine it gets loungy at night.

Though it doesn't have couches, Jack the Horse Tavern in Brooklyn Heights is what I would consider my favorite loungy place. They have great drinks, a cushy corner banquet, a laid-back scene, and very good if somewhat rich food (the better for drinking). The place is a little fancy, but it's a nice neighborhood treat.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, SEA Thai in Williamsburg is the place to go if you want to eat pretty decent thai food in some kind of pan-asian Austin-powers dance club. There are plenty of other techno Thai places these days, but I think SEA still offers the best combination of flavorfull inexpensive food, aquatic landscaping and weird low-slung mod plastic lounge chairs.
