Excellent mashed underneath a fish dish at Gargoyles this weekend. Extremely creamy and smooth, swimming in cream sauce. Very very rich, but studded with salty olives that cut the richness just right.

The stockyard (Market Street in Brighton) has surprisingly rich and yummy mash potatoes. My preferred starch there.

I agree about the mashed at the Stockyard. Their fries are pretty horrible so always get the mashed is my advice.

Isn't the B-Side Lounge known for their mashed potatoes? Meal-sized portions, iirc.

B-Side has right tasty lobster mashed, assuming it's still on the menu. Have been missing the old Union Square Bistro (downstairs bar menu) since they closed up shop several years back. They had about a dozen diff flavors of mashed, most of em delicious.

I like the noplacelikehomefries at Sound Bites in Somerville - basically fried mashed potato patties. Also love the sour cream mashed at EVOO in Somerville.

The mashed potatoes at the Centre Street Cafe in JP are very good (real potatoes, fairly chunky, not too dry). It goes well with the salisbury steak that you can get there.
