Hey CH's! We just had Bar Louie open two locations here in Fort Myers. I am unfamiliar with this particular chain and am curious if it is worth checking out. I generally consider my area a franchise/dining wasteland, so anything even a step up from McD's is welcome. So, opinions?
Bar Louie is essentially a bar that tries to be upscale with fancy drinks. Their food is alright, they have a nice bruschetta appetizer that comes in a giant martini glass. I used to really like this place (I even celebrated a birthday there) but over time, I came to find it too pricy for what it is.
They do have good lemon drops though!
You are certainly talking franchise here. Restaurants America (http://www.restaurants-america.com/) started Bar Louie in Chicago and has several other concepts. Their restaurants seem to come and go but are generally based on things they started in the Chicago area. In Chicago when recommending One North (close to Lyric Opera) or the Grill Room (across the street from the LaSalle Bank Theater and near Orchestra Hall) it is necessary to note that while these restaurants come from the some company that gave us Bar Louie, the others are individual restaurants with much better quality albeit at materially high price points and should not be tarred with the same brush as Bar Louie.
