Christmas Stollen

  • 5

Does anyone have a recipe for Christmas Stollen that they would be willing to share? I am planning to bake this for "Little Christmas" January 6th.

  1. Below is a link to Peter Reinhart's stollen recipe:

    1. I use the same recipe, but use candied fruit...really, for the number of different Stollen recipes out there, it's whatever is preferred. Many recipes have orange or lemon zest.
No matter what yeast dough I'm making, I add 2-4 tablespoons of potato flakes. It makes the softest meal you can imagine.

sorry to sound dumb, but where does one get potato flakes? Does that just mean instant potatoes or are they something different?

      2. I have a great recipe from my grandma with help from Sunset magazine 1930's - involves no dried fruit - just toasted nuts and jam on the inside and wonderful yeasted pastry with a white icing glaze. Stupendous. I will try to remember to look at home for the recipe and post it if you want it. My family has made it every Christmas since before I was born.
