Found great tapas at La Paella
Found great tapas at La Paella on San vicente between Wilshire and 3rd (old Bombay Duck location). we sat at the bar because restaurant was packed. dry sherry selection was fantastic. Some twenty varieties of tapas. They have two kinds of paella and fiduea (noodle paella) as well. The owner is Catalan and very pleasant. Exotica: for $27 or so, you can get the angulas (baby eels/elvers). They may get percebes/barnacles on special order. And they have much cheaper fake elvers. I loved it. Will go again. It's not cheap but won't set you back too much.
I went there last night because of the recommendation. Nice little place with good atmosphere. The food was terrific and they have a nice selection of Spanish wines too. We had a half dozen tapas and split a pan of paella. Everything was very tasty.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Definitely a keeper.

The baby eels are like six times the price of most of the tapas. Most of the tapas are $3-$6. The eels are crazy priced but there are people here that would make a special trip for them. And the markup isn't huge. La Espanola in Harbor City will sell a sardine-can sized container for about $25. No sauce, just the box with the elvers (for what it's worth, I didn't order them, but was impressed that they had them). Our dinner for two with drinks and dessert was about $50 total.
