Business Lunch Downtown TO

  • a

Looking for a recommendation on a great place for a memorable business lunch downtown. My initial thoughts are:

Canoe - but I am already scheduled to go there this month
ByMark - willing to try again but the Lobster grilled cheese I had before was dry & very so-so
Harbour Sixty - never been - heard it is very clubby (meaning not night club but private club)
Reds - I have been before - meh - nothing spectacular
Starfish - does oysters at lunch give the wrong impression?

I am putting it out there. Any comments or suggestions?

  1. Have you considered George just for something different?

I ate at George (for dinner) several years back and I didn't really think anything of it. If it were for dinner, this would have been a slam dunk for me. But my favourite dinner spots don't do lunch :( lol

    2. Memorable and downtown don't quite go together in my book. I'm fond of Vertical, and Canoe, but Bymark doesn't do it for me.

      1. How about the restaurant in the Courts at Queen/University...excellent venue in the hallowed halls of justice....lawyers in gowns lunching beside you...very good chef....never had a bad meal there and price is reasonable....Miranda

        1. Memorable . . . business lunch is a really tough one. Memorable in what way? And for who?

Ki is another reliable business lunch place for me with clients -- clients know it's a bit special, the food is tasty albeit pricey.

When I say "memorable" I mean not run of the mill. Looking for a good meal, maybe a little indulgent.

I had drinks at Ki on Friday and I quite liked the appetizers. (Didn't stay for dinner) - So I will put it on my shortlist! thanks.

          2. I would suggest Bardi's at York and Wellington.

            1. I think Starfish is great for seafood, but you might be right - it might not be the most appropriate place for a business lunch. I would not recommend Ki unless you are going on an expense account (it sounds like you might be). The food is okay - but not nearly worth the price you will end up paying. I think Canoe is great - and I would second Osgoode Hall for a memorable (if not as upscale) luncheon.
