Templeton Restaurant Recs
Going to the March Zin Fest in Paso Robles. We are staying in Templeton and would love a few restaurant recommendations. Preferably close to Templeton (due to wine tasting and driving), but we are willing to drive a few miles for dinner. Thank you in advance!
Templeton is pretty small as you may have gathered. Dinner you are basically limited to McPhees (which is quite good) or AJ Spurs (which is more of a big pot o' food with steaks and the family kind of place).
Hit Joe's on Main for Breakfast. But for dinner, head over to Paso. Just two exits up the freeway or a bit of a tricky surface street maneuver. Plenty of recs on the board for Paso.
Try Hoover's Beef Palace for breakfast. All the traditional breakfast favorites (and then some) served up in HUGE portions to a mostly locals crowd. My wife ordered the egg scramble -- ate maybe half and the rest was my breakfast for the next two days. The place has been around forever, and the menu tells the story of its history and the guy nicknamed "Hoover" who founded the place. On the main road int town east of Hwy 101. Also open for lunch and dinner.
you might also try Range in Santa Margarita, about 10 minutes south. Reservations will help just about anywhere! PR will be crawling with people trying to find dinner.
(McPhee's is about the only rest in T'ton, if you don't count AJ Spurs, one of those 'Texas' stuff-em with sides till they drop kind of places. McPhee's is Chow. AJ's is not.)
