I haved lived in the U.P. of Michigan for the last 20 years.....formerly from the Detroit area (Warren), and can remember my dad taking me and my 2 brothers to a bar/restaurant somewhere in the burbs of Detroit where we had all you can eat frog legs for cheap back in the 70's. They served them deep fried, and sauted in garlic....and were to DIE for!! I have not seen them on any menu in this neck of the woods since I have been here....I suspect it is too damn cold for frogs to be livin up here! Any advice on where to get frog legs in the lower half of Mich? Interested in area to the east of I-75 heading down to Detroit....thanks in advance....Lindsey in da U.P.
The Frog Leg Inn in Erie, close to the Ohio line, not at all far from I-75. I haven't specifically tried them there, but other entrees are good, and that's their specialty, so they ought to be great.
Real Seafood in Ann Arbor has 'em too. Also keep an eye out at Chinese buffets, and you might trot out your favorite fried chicken recipe--Hua Xing Chinese grocery, between Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti, has live frogs. I always feel sort of bad when I walk by and see them staring up at me in their Kermit-like way.
There is a place in ortonville called bullfrogs, its on m-15, about 10 miles north of I-75 they deep fry them, also a place in new lorthrup called Gracies country house. that is about all I know in mid michigan.
