Group Dinner, E&O Trading or LuLu
I'm trying to plan a large, private group dinner. Would you recommend E&O Trading or LuLu's? I know they're both very difference experiences. This is for a large business dinner. Thoughts? Recommendations? Thanks!
I've never been all that wowed by E&O, but have had some good experiences at Lulu. If your dinner is in conjunction with an event at Moscone, it's walking distance and much easier to get to than E&O.
Depending on how large your group is, you might consider Le Colonial as an Asian option, but parking there can be a challenge unless you just go ahead and valet.
I've shared meals with groups at both, and LuLu is definitely the way to go. The food I've had at E&O has been really uninspiring, as opposed to LuLu which has been great. The cocktails are a little more adventuresome at E&O but apart from that I wouldn't recommend it.
I would say that it depends on what kind of business dinner it is. At Lulu, basically everything is served family style, so if it is a more casual style of business dinner, I think it would be fine. I've always more or less enjoyed, though not really ever been wowed by, the food at Lulu. I have not been to E&O, so I can't talk about the food there.
I would stay away from LuLu since it's loud there no matter where you're sitting. And E&O's food is lackluster. Have you thought about Incanto (private room and a celebrity chef), Presidio Social Club (good parking situation), or even Foreign Cinema? All have better food and a better atmosphere IMHO.
Recently my team at work (10 people, so not as large as yours) had dinner at Lulu and lunch at E&O in San Jose (I believe the food at the two locations is somewhat different, though, so I'm not sure if it's an accurate comparison). Personally I preferred the food at Lulu but the rest of the team liked E&O more. Also the vegetarians had some problems finding good choices at Lulu -- there were some on the menu but it was quite limited, so that might be something to consider if your group has many vegetarians.
