Jackson House Inn Woodstock, VT

They changed hands a couple of years ago but I believe that they kept their chef. It was always very good. We have not been there since they changed ownership. Does anyone have any reviews of the restaurant?

  1. I was there last year and the food has certainly gotten much worse, the portions much smaller, but the service was still very good.
Perhaps we just had a really great waitress.
We told her the food was cold and not cooked the way we asked(we wanted medium-rare and we got extra well-done) for and she nicely took the food back and we got the food the way we wanted----unfortunately others with us were through eating by the time our food returned.
    All-in-all not a nice experience.
We told the owner about this on the way out and he just shrugged his shoulders.
Needless to say we haven't been back and we have no plans to try this again.
The new owner didn't have the "people skills" of the old owners at all.

The chef that was there and won all of the accolades has left to go on to a much larger venue. I keep hearing the same things about the owners....

It's really too bad because the place itself is beautiful and the food USED to be great----.
Chefs, especially outstanding chefs, seem to move on too fequently!

I just learned that their most recent chef has moved on to an executive position at the Hanover Inn.
