RIP: Vidalia's Truck Stop in Wellesley

Looks like the kid-friendly pseudo-diner has shut it down.

  1. According to the Townsman article, it is being rennovated and repurposed - but will return.

    1. That's a shame. I hadn't been there in a while though (used to live within 30 mins drive from Wellesley center, but I've since moved further away).
Even on any kid's worst day mood-and-behavior-wise, that back room at Vidalia's was GREAT. If any kid was being loud back there..well, it didn't matter! Kind of a smoking section, but for kids.

I also remember a TV in that room showing cartoons. And of course the trucks all over the walls. They had the atmosphere down perfect for any truck-loving kid. The menu choices were also pretty good, but the actual quality of the food and service didn't match up to the surroundings, IMO.

RIP Vidalia's. I hope they replace it with another kid-friendly place.

Yes, it was a great place for toddlers, but that's about it.

My husband and daughter just happened to go there on Saturday, not knowing it was the next to last day. The server told them that the rents have gotten high enough so that they couldn't make a profit on that type of restaurant so they are changing it so something higher end. I seem to recall they own Maxwell's 148, so I guess it's not surprising. My daughter is a teen now, but I too have fond memories of being grateful that I could have a decent salad while she enjoyed mac and cheese and the cartoons in the back room.
