Where do ya take the boss for a very special birthday dinner?

So, it's the big kahuna's big 5-0, and his worker bees want to lavish their fearless leader with a big old for-he's-a-jolly-good-fellow, which he very much is. We want to take him out to dinner somewhere around the office in Century City (Beverly Hills, Westwood, West LA, West Hollywood, Brentwood) early in the evening, right after work (since we live all over from Lakewood to Calabasas). But we want the place to feel festive. And special. And fun. I know 6pm is early, but we don't want to feel like we're walking into a morgue. Price isn't really an object. And he loves good food - Valentino and Chinois are his favorites (but we've already been to both!). Is the food too horrible at Eurochow? Is La Cachette too romantic? Is Mako too small?

Any suggestions would be so kindly appreciated! Muchos gracias!

  1. Try Chez Mimi on 26th in Brentwood. There are a number of small, attractive rooms suitable for a party. I think I remember a fireplace in at least one of them. It's relatively quiet, but certainly not somber, and the food is excellent.
