Dinner in Manhatten Beach

Need a recommendation for a Saturday night dinner for six. What's the best place in town?

  1. Petros, the Greek restaurant, is very nice.

i concur with the petros recommendation

Petros is a good bet but reservations are a must. I've always been a great fan of Bora Bora. Both are very good and are among the best but based on the Manhattan Beach field, best place in town is not saying much imho. Best place near MB is conceivably La Sosta in HB. Chef Melba's is also very good but the atmosphere and waitstaff leave much to be desired.

Ohhhh, please tell me about La Sosta. My original post was not well thought out - here's what I really meant to say: I would like to meet some folks for dinner on a Saturday night for a birthday celebration. One couple lives in Fountain Valley (near Costa Mesa I think) and the other couple lives in Redondo Beach. We live in Brentwood. So, I thought that MB would be a convenient place for everyone to meet, but so would HB.

Torrance would probably be convenient as I recommend Christine: I also really like Gina Lee's Bistro in Redondo beach, but Christine's food and atmosphere are better.

Never heard of Christine. Nice menu from the website. Thank you.

Do a search on this board for La Sosta Enoteca for reviews. It is expensive but a nice place for a birthday dinner. I now see that it is actually in MB but on the border of HB. Note reservations are a must as it is a small restaurant.

The Depot in Torrance is close to the freeway and pretty festive. I have to second Christine's as well, and am going in a group of 6 this Sat. It just seems like you my want to stay a little closer to the freeway with people driving so far. Musha in Torrance is also really good, fun and easily accessible from the freeway, if you're in the mood for an izakaya style meal.

        2. MB is for the most part, devoid of great dining. Others have mentioned Petros which is ok; typcailly we order a large variety of apps and share.
RockNFish serves good food; call for a rez.
For Italian, 6 of us had a very enjoyable meal at Buona Vita last year; it's a small space, but cozy. Also, friends who live MB do like La Sosta.
