Dessert-centric Night Out- Suggestions?

I'm trying to find a place to go in January for a night out, to a place that has great desserts as well as great food. I'm hoping to find one of two types: 1) Classic desserts that are not fussy and executed well; or 2) Fun, interesting desserts that maybe can't be found in every other restaurant. I'm thinking along the lines of Cafe Atlantico, PS7, Citronelle, Central, ... which I've had great meals and desserts at. Price and type of cuisine really isn't an issue- although I would prefer to try out someplace new.

Anywhere in NW really would be good, especially if metro-accessible. Thanks in advance Chowhounds, and happy holidays!

The home made vanilla ice cream and small, to -share, luscious apple pie at Blue Duck Tavern.

The coconut cake at Creme is out of this world delicious. You should call to make sure they have it that night though. And if you are going to hang out on U St. you can also swing over to Busboys and Poets. I had a 5+ chocolate layer cake that was decadent and yummy.

Cashion's has had nice desserts in the past but I haven't been in a long time.

And the homemade ice cream and pies at Blue Duck Tavern is quite good.

For those really interest in desserts and indulgence, I believe that Vaccaro's bakery in Little Italy, Baltimore, has a dessert buffet on either Monday or Tuesday nights

I also heard the Ritz in Georgetown has a chocolate happy hour I don't know the days or times though.

The sampler plate at Belga Cafe on 8th St SE (near the Eastern Market metro station) is my favorite dessert plate in DC (and it's only a few dollars more than getting any one particular dessert): mousse(s), ice creams / sorbets, creme brulee, fallen chocolate cake, waffle with chocolate on top.... Very good Belgian chocolate, although each platter comes with different items so you may not get everything listed above.
