2nd. Ave. Deli delivers while waiting on line...

My group went on a pilgrimage to the new 2nd Ave. Deli location early afternoon Saturday...a line had already formed on E. 33rd. St. as we pulled up in a car...we were deciding whether to wait it out when one of the owners came onto the sidewalk with a large platter of chopped liver on rye and began giving it out to everyone...he also walked over to our car and let us share his treasure...We ended up deciding to go elsewhere, but it was a true N.Y. moment and great P.R...We will be back!

  1. I love how you took their free "treasure" and then went somewhere else.
That truly is a New York moment. Well done.

I was just thinking the same thing. I have to say it really IS a unique city..

    2. Glad to hear they still do this! I wondered if this yummy tradition would move with them to their new spot.

How I have missed their chopped liver!

It is true that those little things definitely make an impression on people. Even though you went elsewhere [chuckle], you said you'll be back.
