NYE Dining for One in Costa Mesa?

djquinnc Dec 29, 2007 01:43 PM

I have a gig in the OC for NYE and want to have a nice meal before my festivities commence.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hmm. Most nicer type of restaurant will probably have set overpriced menus for the evening. Your best bet would be a hole in the wall or very casual place. Any type of cuisine you are in the mood for?

I'm sure many places will be fine, but give us an iea of price point and exactly where you'll be. OC is very big.

I live in OC and have a gig in Nashville, so kinda have that same question!

Assuming you'll probably be dining early (5-7pm?), you might be able to snag an early seat at

Onotria on Bristol (finer Italian fare)
Pinot Provence or Leatherby's near So. Coast Plaza (fine French or contemporary Continetal, respectively)

More casual, but decent spots are many, but could include:
Quattro Cafe inside South Coast Plaza (they have nice seating for solo diners, plus very good modern Italian)
Memphis (great bar with Southern-style American eats)
Island Grille on Bristol (decent Greek)
Plus, there are any number of affordable and good taco, sushi, noodle and Asian-blend joints in CM. If that's your preference, let us know....

Looking for a place as well (for two). Called Marche Moderne and they're all booked. Also called Napa Rose, they only have spaces available for their $185 late night seating with midnight champagne toasts and dancing.

Let me know what you run across! I'm not too concerned about the price if the food is up to par, but I can do without all the pomp and circumstance.
