Searching for Seitan!

Has anyone had any luck finding Seitan in the Cambridge/Somerville area? I used to get it at Wildoats in Medford, but is no longer there. Shaws in Porter doesn't carry it, neither does Pemberton Farms on Mass Ave. Any suggestions?

    1. Harvest Co-op in Central Square. I bought some just the other day.

      1. It is funny because I live in RI and here it is also hard to find seitan, I only find it at Whole Foods and maybe one health food store in CT. Have you ever made it yourself?

I have never tried to make it-actually, I've never even bought it! I've been veg for about a year now, but I never got around to buying it. I see that you can make it easily from a kit (here's the link) but I'm not sure I'm that confident!

(search under meat alternatives, 'quick mix harvest direct')

It's actually hot hard to make if you have dough mixer or bread machine, it's just very time consuming. And if you don't mind the junk that comes with it, the fake duck, chicken, etc. sold by the can in asian markets is a *much* cheaper altenative.

        2. Second for Whole Foods and Cambridge Co-Op. I've bought it at both places.

I've also found it at every Shaw's I've been to, in the produce section near the tofu. It's a vacuum-packed pouch inside a box made by LightLife, and comes in a few different flavored marinades. More expensive and I don't think it's quite as good as the natural food stores, but it avoids an extra trip sometimes.
