Who has the best chai latte in SoCal?

What other alternatives are there besides Starbucks and Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf (whose chai's arent that good)? I've tried Fritelli's in Bev Hills and Daily Grind in Seal Beach (who both have good chai's), but who has the best? I would love to know!

  1. I love the vanilla chai at Bean Town in Sierra Madre and Alta in Newport Beach. Both are great family run locations and use the same chai mix. I don't know what it is but I love it and they have spice flavor as well.

      1. Those are way too sweet. Not the real stuff.

The best is at your local Indian restaurant.... any of them.

        1. Depends on your taste. I've had a surprisingly good chai latte at Whole Foods on National & Barrington, but it was sweetened.

I also like Urth's, but that too is sweetened.

Samosa House on Washington west of Sepulveda makes their own chai (not latte) that isn't sweetened (or if it is, just barely).

While I agree that Starbucks' chai lattes are not good, I've had decent ones at CB&TL. The secret is to ask for less vanilla syrup so it's less dessert-y and more spicy. But even then, it's not going to blow your mind.

I work at CB&TL and we use vanilla powder and not syrup, for a medium chai we use 1 scoop of powder so if you want it less sweet (which makes it much more drinkable) ask for 1/2-3/4 scoop. Tea Station also has decent chais.

that's how i order my chai lattes at coffee bean. so yummy. i also like the chai lattes at groundworks.

            1. The 18th Street Coffee House (on Broadway and 18th in Santa Monica) has a fantastic chai latte -- and if you get it with rice milk instead of cow juice, it tastes even better.
