Joley@ Astor (SoBe)

Looks like there is a new restaurant at the Astor per the NY Post today. Joley South Beach. This is the first mention I've seen or heard.

"THAT John Suley and Michael Kurgan have opened Joley Restaurant & Lounge in the Hotel Astor on South Beach"

Same team from Cafe Joley in Boca

Looks like they are open per opentable and the Astor site

Not a steakhouse yesssssssssssssssss!!!!

Not sure how they got press in NY and nothing down here. Did I miss something?
Another new place to try.. can't keep up. (this is a good problem)

How odd is it that this is getting picked up in the NY press but apparently not locally?

I actually went and I enjoyed the appetizers (I happened to pick seafood/fish appetizers) alot and the Main courses (which happened to be meat) much less. I did not find the desserts very memorable. Overall though I thought the place was good but Maison is better.

::sigh:: I've started to dread good apps being precursor to so-so food. seems a bit cheaper (as per the Boca menu) than Maison D'Azur though for some dishes, just a little bit less for others. Is it worthwhile alternate for the more budget conscious, or not really?

I am not sure if they don't do meats as well or they don't do mains as well - so I really can't tell you without another visit, which I will get around to -sorry.

That all being said, I think Maison is superior foodwise and would always choose it over Jolie on a value basis as well.

Looks like competition for Maison d' Azur. I'll check it out...
