Pensacola FL Restaurants

We will be in the Pensacola area for two weeks in January.

Can you recommend any restaurants (not expensive but nicer than fast food) in Pensacola and within 25 miles of the city?

Any cuisine is fine as we are food to eat!!!! Really like spicy food though.

  1. check out this helped me when i visited... really liked mcGuire's

    1. We just visited an institution called Jerry's Drive-In on East Cervantes in Pensacola. It's one of those places you probably wouldn't bother with unless you already knew about it. It's definitely not fancy but if you like plain good hamburgers in an interesting location, this is your place at least once. They also have several seafood dishes that we didn't try. We went for lunch on Saturday and there was a slight wait. It is definitely wait your turn for a table but the staff is good about finding you an appropriate place whether it be at the bar or a table with a high-chair. The service was fast and efficient. They are very no-nonsense but welcoming.

Please note that they don't take cards, only cash or local checks. I had the cheeseburger and the chili cheese fries. My daughter loved the pork barbecue sandwich.

      1. Unlike the chowhound in carinole's link, we had a very good experience recently at the FishHouse. The seafood grits were excellent. Of course the weather was still warm and it wasn't dark until after after 7 so we sat outside. Not sur eif that's an option in January.

The Coffee Cup is a dive MUST GO for breakfast.

Mcguire's food is okay for bar food but go for the house brews on tap after you eat elsewhere. Pass on Copeland's (way overhyped) and the chains.

There was a new jazz place opening up downtown in December, menu in the local throw-away sounded interesting. It's suppose to be around where Dharma Blues is. A coupel of other places there too that look pretty good.. You can check the local papaer but there are a couple of tex-mex places north of I-10 that get good word from locals.
