How long do dried mushrooms last?

I've got a bag at home somewhere that I've had for years. I'm not even sure how many years. Do you think they'd be safe to eat? If they don't smell moldy or anything?

If they are kept dry and out of bright lite, they will keep for 2-3 years. I have mine in a zip-bag inside of a opaque Rubbermaid container.

Porcini mushrooms last up to 3 years in a zip lock bag kept in the refrigerator.

Dried mushrooms generally last for a long time with one exception - insect infestation. I had a large bag or dried porchini mushrooms get infested with some kind of almost microscopic little bugs. I tried boiling them, but the mushrooms had an almost "digested"texture and I had to throw them away. Since then, I had another mushroom purveyor tell me to store them in a ziploc bag in the freezer and they will keep indefinitely. No problems since.

They will last a very long time. They may lose some flavor but just reconstitute them in hot water and give them a go.
