Tips for Dining, Eating and Food Shopping in the New England

Bear and Grill Orange Ct

Warning, if you want a meal that might have been touched by the cooks in ways you don't want to know about or if you have you whole life to wait for a meal and not be served with your family and friends, because of the food looked like a monster had touched it, then this might be the place for you to go. The owner and his wife were very rude and dismissive when making it known about your serious complaints. I really would NOT reccommend this to anyone. By the way they also I hear have a place in Fairfield so you are warned. They claim to have been in the business for a long time but maybe only in fast food?

There were three of us and I ordered a burger and it came to me in 4 pieces instead of one patty and it defintely looked as if it had been examined in every way possible, I was told with a straight face by the owner that the burger broke. I was perplexed that a burger breaks in 4 pieces. It just looked used and abused so I sent it back and it took another half an hour after waiting 1 hour for our food at 1;45pm after the lunch rush. So I ate separtely after the others had totally completed there meal. In a nut shell it was a horrible rude experience and the owners took no responsibility and blamed their new cooks.

    2. yikes! thanks for the warning. it never looked that impressive in the first place...

      1. i've given this restaurant 2 tries thinking maybe i just had a bad experience. Well, it wasn't just a bad experience the 2nd time, it was horrendous! We went to the father's day brunch, they packed us in like sardines, the trays were empty for the most part, the carving station was lousy, and to add insult to injury they jack up the prices by like $5.00 per person because it was father's day! The food that was advertised did not exist. Terrible experience. i recommend you do NOT go there.

I've avoided going there since they opened...I guess that I'm just not a fan of "erzatz rustic" decor! I do know a number of people who have tried it at one time or another and there seems to be a very strong consensus that there is very little in the way of quality as far as food is concerned. It is clearly an establishment that prefers to make its money by maintaining a busy bar and couldn't care less about putting out good food.

I agree as I did in 2007 it was horrible and the owner cocky , rude and he embarassed me in front of my relatives. I was pissed and would never go there agin in my life. I don't usually hold such a grudge but with him I do forever. Food was disgusting.
