Red Lion Diner in Southampton NJ?

DH and I stopped at the very nearly deserted Olga's Diner on Rt. 70 yesterday on our way home from my family's house. We both had the cheeseburger and fries, which was pretty good, but not great. I ordered some brown gravy on the side for my fries, which was waaaay too thick for my taste. Service was good, as it should have been considering the lack of diners.

Anyway, my question is this: I figured Olga's was deserted because it was the day after Christmas, but when we travelled further along Rt. 70 I noticed that the Red Lion Diner was packed. Has anyone ever eaten there? What did you have? I'd like to stop on my next trip and see what all the hullabaloo was about,

Diablo, I LOVE the Red Lion Diner in Southampton, NJ! It was actually my first job! I loved working there! I loved the owners! I loved everyone there! I even ate there on my days off! Now it's the first place I hit when I go home for a visit! Of all the things I miss in NJ, the Red Lion Diner is one of them!!! The food is great, the people are great! I see this post is quite old, but hopefully some day you'll stop in for a visit!

ETA - everything is made fresh! All the desserts are made fresh, all the bread is made fresh, all the soups are made fresh!!! WONDERFUL!! Oh and the desserts - YUM!!!

Since Olga's is currently for sale (big shocker), I would honestly recommend looking for another diner in the area. Not that Olga's was great (mostly a tradition), but The Red Lion isn't all that hot, either. I've stopped many a time before heading into/out of Philadelphia. They were never as crowded as Olga's, at least during my experiences. But, the food was what I deemed solid diner food: certainly not fantastic, nothing to write home about, but a fun trip and filling (to say the least).
