Preferably a market in the Venice/Marina/Santa Monica area -- but have been known to scour much, much broader areas looking for the right "source" for food items. (Haven't found a decent Chinese grocery on the Westside, so I schlep to 99 Ranch market in Gardena when I need to stock up.)

In general, knowledge of a decent Mexican/Latin American market in the area would be helpful.

I know this board is more restaurant oriented -- and I take advantage of the recommendations as often as possible -- but it's also a very educated source for food information in general.

  1. Sorry, can't help you about the Mexican/LatinAmerican part, but I did want to say that there's 99 Ranch Market on Sepulveda & Victory, right off the 405. Not sure if that's closer to you than Gardena, but if there's no traffic, jumping onto the 405 and going north to Victory takes no time at all! (There's also a fabulous pho place across the street.)
