Eating near Hammersmith Apollo?

Another question for you helpful ChowPeople!

Having bagged some tickets to see Chris Rock in January, I'm wondering if I should try and find somewhere to eat in the area - near Hammersmith Apollo - or if I should eat elsewhere first?

The restaurants on my 'to do' list are in the West End, but do any of you have any suggestions for restaurants near Hammersmith Apollo that are worth trying? Or am I better off sticking to my comfort zone and then heading on to the show after dinner?

All suggestions greatly appreciated :)

Another good restaurant very close to the Apollo is (arguably) London's best vegetarian restaurant, The Gate. Or, if you are happy to eat a mile or so west of the Apollo, La Trompette in Chiswick is wonderful (part of the Nigel Platts Martin stable (Chez Bruce, The Square, The Glasshouse, The Ledbury)). Don't bother with travelling to / from the West End.

Two to think about are "The River Cafe", the internationally renowned Italian and "The Brackenbury" a long term neighbourhood favourite. Not certain if you can really fit both a show and a meal in on the same evening at either of these two restaurants though.
