We had a brunch recently at Chez Melange in Redondo Beach (on the border of Palos Verdes) with kids ranging in age from 4-10, and the restaurant and staff could not have been nicer. Food was also very good.

Probably any restaurant at Universal City Walk.

I saw the happiest eighteen-month-old dining at Lucques.

If you're in the Silverlake area on Silverlake Blvd. is a charming restaurant called Michelangelo's. Great Italian food, friendly service and all the locals bring their kids. It's nice if especially if you like an arty eclectic crowd as opposed to Universal, ugh, City Walk. It's a small European style place with indoor and outdoor seating. Also they have a beer and wine.
