Hello all,

I have a 1-year anniversary coming up on Thursday, and I'm trying to find somewhere special without being over-the-top expensive. I'd love to try somewhere new. Favorite places incude East Coast Grill, Masa, Oleana, Bricco, La Laiterie in Providence, and Tremont 647. Dark and candle-y is great. Any suggestions would be spectacular. Thanks (and Merry Xmas, if you're in to that sort of thing :) )

The Dunaway in Portsmouth, NH is worth a trip (less than an hour.) The chef left and is now at Harvest, so I'm not sure if the food is still fantastic, but the space is as romantic as you get (anyone been recently?)

Locally, Salts is exquisite and romantic - definitely an incredible, special place. I've always loved Taranta, and you can't go wrong with Mama Maria. Craigie Street is also wonderful.

I highly recommend Euno in the North End...

Tons of great recs here already (though I can't speak to Euno).

Some other places I like for great food, atmosphere, and not too big a check: Ten Tables, dbar, Trattoria Toscana, Central Kitchen, Taberna de Haro, Franklin Cafe, Delfino, Casa Portugal, Olé Mexican Grille (ask for table in the rear dining room), and Addis Red Sea (South End, haven't been to the Porter Square one yet).

            Happy 1st!

I suggest Grotto in Beacon Hill. It's dark and candle-y and has a great, yet affordable, menu.
