Has anyone been to Zach's Italian Cafe in Studio City?

Matt Nov 21, 2000 10:02 PM

I've been passing the sign on Ventura Blvd for years and been seeing the cheesey commercials on TV for as long, but haven't had that final push to go and try it. Can anyone help?

It's pleasant enough, but nothing special. I haven't been there in a while, but I don't particularly remember anything that stands out enough to compel me to return. Relatively inexpensive, and large portions of pasta. My conclusion is that there are better places to try on Ventura than Zach's...

Boy, I gotta tell ya. I like the commercial when the cute blonde waitress winks at the camera.... Otherwise, it's totally cheesey.

My question is, they occupy a site that was, for a brief time, a hot spot restaurant. Does anybody remember the name of that place?

As a minor historian of L.A. restaurants, I'm just curious. (But, obviously, not enough so to show up at Zach's to ask about it!)

It was Mary's Lamb. And much better than Zachs. But at least Zachs doesn't have those annoying phony Italian Gumba commercials like The Olive Garden.

I have never tried Zach's in this new locale or when it was next door to Popeye's Chicken further west on Ventura. BUT..i DO know the name of former occupant. MARY'S LAMB. And I believe it was run by the same Mary of the catering co. Along Came Mary. Anybody? Anybody?
