Meg B. Nov 4, 2000 09:21 PM

I'm in search of the best carne asada in L.A.; specifically looking for a place that will end up catering my wedding in May. Any suggestions? TIA

I don't know how their carne asada rates, bue we had El Cholo cater a party for us and they did an excellent job. We needed to have some healthy choices along with the traditional menu items, and they were very eager to please. The food and service were great. I'd use them again.

I'm curious, been kicking the catering idea around for a while... just curious, that's all....

Computer geek, that coulda/shoulda been a chef... have an Argentinian Carne Asada that's to die for... along with all the goodies! E-mail me, if you'd like? Otherwise, I'll ask my friends who they use at their yummy parties!

Thanks, Joe. It's a very small family type thang--40 or 50 people. We are kicking around the idea of having the grill going, salsas, good tortillas, grilled vegetables, I haven't figured it all out yet. My dream is to smell something excellent searing on the grill while I take my vows. Oh dear.

And discuss the details? Perhaps we can be of service to each other?

Now what do those caterers do? Oh yes, invite the prospective clients over for a tasting and discussion of services. I'm in Anaheim... and LOVE to cook for people.

I am also looking for a recipe like the carne asada I was able to get when I lived in San Diego. It was always marinaded with lots of lime and cilantro. And then barbecued. Most of the recipes I have found call for round steak, and if marinated for days it is tender enough to eat. I have been trying sirlon steak with great results. Try Bobby Flay's web site, his was good...but not quite what I remember as good as I grew up with in San Diego. Let me know if you come up with something incredible!
