Xmas dinner - East Side Chinese

Looking for a casual but good spot for Chinese dinner on Xmas, late afternoon/early eve. What's open, what's good? We'll be up at NY Hospital all day, so anyplace on the east side from 72 St down to Chinatown is good. The menu should have some bland & not too authentic choices for older relatives who just can't go there. Ideas?

Perhaps one of the Grand Sichuan locations? St Marks between 2nd and 3rd, or 33rd and Lex, or 55th and 2nd. There's "American Chinese" sections of the menu as well as an authentic Chinese section.

Shih Lee is delicious, has some "not too authentic" items and everything is made with very high quality and fresh ingredients.

Don't know if it is open, but Chin Chin might fit the bill if it is. Nice but casual.

Edit - and if you go, do get the crispy fried squid - delicious - I posted about it recently.
