Christmas Eve Dinner Recommendation

Over the past few years, we've taken our girls (14,18, 22) out to dinner for a nice end of year meal in Manhattan (we live on LI) on Christmas eve. It's easy to get into the city and park that night. Finding the right restaurant is a bit more difficult.

My girls like a glitzy (they describe it as a Sex in the City type of restaurant). My wife and I want really good food. A restaurant like Fiamma Osteria fit the bill some previous years, but that restaurant has become too pricy for us.

So can anyone recommend something that fits the bill: preferably downtown (it's easier to get parking), Italian or some kind of continental, and less expensive than Fiamma (they now get $89 for a 3 course prix fixe). Of course, they need to be open on xmas eve.

Thanks.

I'm assuming you're Jewish if you don't celebrate Christmas around a tree eating Christmas dinner at home or at family or friends home.
Our family always has the traditional Jewish version of Christmas, we go see a movie and eat Chinese food.

This year we will see Sweeny Todd and eat Asian food in our neighborhood the (Upper Westside).

Take your daughters to the fun Blue Fin right in the heart of Broadway with all the lights and glitz. The food's decent (nothing fancy) but they have nice wines-by-the-glass and cheese plates and munchies as well as a small dining room. And they will be very happy with all the people watching.

Wow - you must be psychic. That is where we went last year. It was good. Fiamma, much better. But then a lot more money.

We've made a reservation at I Coppi (9th near ave A). We'll see how it goes.

I like I Coppi. The food's very good, so I think you and your wife will be satisfied. Not so sure about your daughters, though, since it's not hip or glitzy. Rustic, cozy interior + a lovely all-weather back garden.

Thanks for the entertaining YouTube link. :-)
