Maison Akira

Has anybody been to Maison Akira in Pasadena? We've heard good things about the chef and the restaurant but we don't know anybody who has been there recently. Thanks!

  1. I'm answering my own post because we ate at Maison Akira last night and had a wonderful experience. The food was sublime and the service impeccable. We ordered a chablis to start and it arrived at our table in about two minutes. A good omen. Two tasting menus were offered but the four of us ordered ala carte. I started with a lovely citrusy lobster salad and had quail for my main course. My companions chose fish; a chilean sea bass, sole with scallops and monk fish. We were all thrilled. I lol'd in the ladies room because they were playing a French language learning tape. The chef was born in Kyoto and studied with Robuchon in France.
