I'm answering my own post because we ate at Maison Akira last night and had a wonderful experience. The food was sublime and the service impeccable. We ordered a chablis to start and it arrived at our table in about two minutes. A good omen. Two tasting menus were offered but the four of us ordered ala carte. I started with a lovely citrusy lobster salad and had quail for my main course. My companions chose fish; a chilean sea bass, sole with scallops and monk fish. We were all thrilled. I lol'd in the ladies room because they were playing a French language learning tape. The chef was born in Kyoto and studied with Robuchon in France.
