Detroit: Chicago style hot dog ?
Help ! I am in the midst of a long term unfulfilled craving for a proper Chicago style hot dog with all the toppings and bells and whistles . Can such a thing be found in the Motor City ? Or am I doomed to yet another coney ? Don't get me wrong , I like coneys and all , I just need a good Chicago dog and can't justify six hours on I-94 to get one . Any suggestions ?

The recently opened Unique Franks in Walled Lake has no less than 17 different varieties, as well as plenty of build-your-own options. They feature Cheli's Chili and have ice cream from the Guernsey Dairy.
I really miss the Anitas in Farmington Hills, and am glad there are other locations.

re: coney with everything
Anitas was great . Anita herself was in the kitchen , making sure everything was being done right . Turned out a dining companion of ours is an old time family friend from way back in high school , so we had a very pleasant experience . The food was excellent ( aforementioned dining companion is half Lebanese-I take his word on authentic ) , the service , while still working out in the first week of being open , was excellent . A very relaxed , smallish , family type of place , in a modern way . I told Joe , the owner that he officially had regulars . He said he'd put us on the list , which I'm sure will be growing soon . Go check it out .
