Stupid holiday nuts

ashii Dec 22, 2007 11:09 AM

I cant seem to find any hazelnuts anywhere. I can find mixed nuts, and every other kind of nut, but no hazelnuts. I need it for christmas dinner, anyone know why no one has them?
Or where i can find them?

Well, I don't know for sure, and I'm sorry this isn't in Minneapolis, but what about "We are nuts" on Vandalia in St. Paul (at least it's one of the earliest exits in St. Paul when you cross over from Mpls on 94)... I posted about it here: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/46334...

Mississippi Market on Selby & Dale has them in the bulk section, so other co-ops probably will as well -- you could try Seward or the Wedge.

Do you have Trader Joes in your area?

Call the Wedge - they're customer service is right next to the bulk section, so they'll be able to tell you whether they're currently in stock.

I think you are just looking in the wrong place. They are not by the snack nuts (mixed nuts, peanuts and cashews) but rather in the baking section of any supermarket in town.

Keep in mind that they are often called filberts, not hazelnuts.

Trader has none, and i tried the wedge a week or so ago... i will try again in the morning.
I know they are called filberts, i only found one very very small package (containing maybe 10 nuts) at a liquor store. I bought that just in case, but maybe i will just substitute walnuts or chestnuts instead. Thanks
