Rick's "Best Food in L.A."
I've been going to the Rick's on the corner of Riverside Drive and Fletcher adjacent to Silverlake for many years, and have always been amused by their "Best Food in L.A." sign. So audacious. Now clearly it's not the BEST food in L.A., but I do have a soft spot for their cheeseburgers, onion rings and fried zucchini. Are there any other guiltless Rick's-goers on Chowhound?

I grew up in the San Gabriel Valley and remember when Rick's was a greasy spoon on Main Street in Alhambra. My dad used to take the family there for a good, cheap burger that was not McDonald's or Burger King. It is truly a part of my childhood and go back as often as I can.
The Rick's in Silver Lake is just as good. Now that I live in the city, I go there when I need my Rick's fix even though I live in the westside. There is nothing more comforting than their cheeseburgers!

Rick's is one of my guilty pleasures as well... a very under-rated cheeseburger and the fries are great and they give you the largest portions in town. i also love the 'voted best food in LA" sign of theirs... i mean, really... just preposterous, but you gotta love their nerve...
i'm also a fan of another under-rated cheeseburger at a place called Jo's in santa monica...

Agree....not the BEST but Ricks is a good value for breakfast.
I guess there's no truth in advertising when it comes to that statement and "World Famous".
Reminds me....last night I went to Fosselman's last night and perused the numerous accolades they've received. Don't get me wrong and not stirring up a debate, I like Fosselman's. Over the years I think they've cut down on the butterfat content and maybe more overrun(more air).
