So I put 3/4 teaspoons baking soda in a Lemon Slice Cookie dough and it's supposed to be 1/4 teaspoon. The dough is in the refrigerator... Can anyone tell me what I can expect when I slice them into 1/4 inch slices? Just curious... They are usually crispy, thin and delicious... I was going to make another batch and add to this one, but my husband seems to think it'll be fine.
Here's the recipe, if needed.

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 T. lemon zest
2 T. lemon juice
2 cups flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt- not me.
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. blend in egg, zest and juice. Add flour, soda and salt. Mix until just blended. Divide dough in half and shape into logs on plastic wrap. Very soft dough. Chill, slice into 1/4 inch slices, sprinkle with crystal sugar and bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
Now I know why I made the mistake... printed with a funky font...

My guess is that they will be just fine... but if it were me, I would bake a couple (just use the toaster oven) to check.

They will probably be a bit higher and fluffier, but I doubt it is enough to effect the taste

Let us know how they turned out. My guess is that they'd probably taste a little bit bitter. When I moved to the UK, before I realized that UK spoon measures are bigger than ours, I definitely noticed a difference in the taste of some quick breads. But I agree with the other posters who say try a couple just to see.

Thanks everyone you were all right! Cookies taste and looks the same as I remember. It may have more of a bite, but I don't know if it's the lemons or the baking soda. Anyways they go into the cookie baskets. Thanks again, all.
