Just wanted to give everyone my best and to wish you all season's greetings.

It's been a pretty good food year. My thanks go out to:

Angela and her son for giving us the best Mexican food and service in memory.

Fellini's for having the best tomato/pesto pizza on earth, and reminding me why I sometimes miss my years in Providence (that and the Wikendon St. Pub, where I am still officially the Bar Captain, and have the coat to prove it).

To Terramia for their consistently excellent food, and their sister restaurant, Antico Forno, for keeping the prices affordable and the food tasty.

To Ten Tables for reasonably priced and exceptionally cooked fare.

To Pete's Pub/Durty Nellie's, who, despite my initial apprehension, kept the prices low and added a pretty decent Irish breakfast to the scene.

To Taranta and Prezza, for still keeping things interesting in my hood.

To Foley's in the South End and to the Waterfront Cafe, for making pub grub not just edible, but delicatable.

To Flat Iron, for reminding me that bad location doesn't mean bad food.

To Mexico in Prov., who I promise I still love and won't (completely) abandon due to Angela's.

To Daniel Boulud, my culinary hero. You define class and genius, sir.

To The Cantab, for having the smarts to get Tim's burger into your dive.

To Regina's, for always having a bar seat available for me when the line outside is frightful.

To Sol Azteca for your chicken livers, and India Quality for your vindaloo, and Savenor's for everything.

To every other restaurant and market I loved this year but forgot to mention.

To hiddenboston, and MC Slim, and Pegmeister, and Rubee, and fredid, and our old friend Limster (and anyone I missed) who kept our bellies full of food and our heads full of info.

And finally, to my best friend Robert and his wife, who blessed their lives and mine with a precious baby boy who I will introduce to great food, even if his pappy cringes at the thought of quail and rack of lamb at a Pats' tailgate.

All the best, Hounds. Here's to the best eating ever in 2008.

Thanks, Bob. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you, too.

It was one of the more interesting years for me for dining out, as I discovered some terrific restaurants that opened in 2007 (Mrs. Jones, Dorchester; Angela's Cafe, East Boston; Taso's in Norwood; Great Chow, Abington) as well as some great places that have been around forever that I finally got to try (Monte's, Lynn; Mul's Diner, South Boston; La Hacienda, Somerville; Harry's, Westborough). There were also some restaurants that closed in 2007 that I'll miss (Java Jo's, Milton; Anthem, Boston; Las Palmas de Cuba, Hanover) but there was also a dining spot that came back to life again after a few years, and for that I'm very grateful (Geoffrey's Cafe, Roslindale).

I can't wait to see what 2008 holds for new restaurants, existing restaurants that I have yet to try, and places that folks on Chowhound find that turn out to be real gems. I do have a list of restaurants I want to go to in 2008 for the first time, including Taqueria El Amigo in Waltham, Saray in Allston, Flat Patties in Harvard Square, and Byblos in Norwood, and I'll definitely be jumping onto this board to see what good new places come around over the coming months.

Happy holidays to everyone! And I hope 2008 is a good year for all...

Thanks Bob, what a nice list. Happy Holidays. And thanks to you too for all the great info, reminding me of places I need to get to more often, and for all your entertaining posts that made me laugh out loud - you're one funny guy.

Thanks for the wonderful wishes. Happy holidays and best wishes to you all as well. I'm taking a hiatus from Chowhounding as I am recovering from gastric bypass surgery. Kinda ironic and funny, eh? Once I'm all healed in a few months, I'll be able to have very teensy portions - snobby expensive French restaurants, here I come. :)

Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and New Years.

I have to say it's been a unique pleasure for me to read about all the new places the Boston Chowhounds visit regularly. Before I became incarcerated in this dang wheelie, I too was on the prowl in the various Boston neighborhoods. Been up and down the North End streets a million times... also, Hamersley's, Icarus, Rialto, Chez Henri, Oleana, Harvest, Grill 23, East Coast Grill and about a hundred more..... you name it - I have been there. So I say Thank You to all of you for keeping me informed about what's good and no so good, and what's new in my favorite city.

Prav, hoping for a speedy recovery for you.

Happy Holidays to all and may each of you have the Very Best New Year yet!! Cheers!
