Hi,

I'm flying in from NYC for a really brief visit on the 24th and am really excited to visit one of the north Toronto Chinese restaurants I've been hearing so much about. Someone I know from Hong Kong told me to go to any restaurant in Times Square mall and order a stir fry, which will be so much better than any you can get in New York because the chefs are actually trained Hong Kong chefs, unlike here.

My problem is picking a restaurant. I will have a car. It would also be really interesting to check out one of these huge Chinese malls I've been hearing about (Pacific vs. Times Sq vs. ?).

As for cuisine, I'm very open (obviously not limited to stir frys!).....price is flexible too. This would be lunch, and not dinner, unfortunately, so maybe there won't be real chefs in the kitchen?? But still, I'm very excited to give it a go.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Oh my goodness! There is one place right near the airport that is amazing for dim sum: it is called Grand Chinese Cuisine and is in the Doubletree Hilton. It's the closest thing to true HK style "haute" dim sum that I've experienced in Toronto.

As for the malls, I would recommend Pacific over Times' Square for sheer size. It's at Markham and Steeles, and there are some good restaurants in the vicinity as well. (Search this board for Ruby's Chinese Restaurant and Fantasy Eatery.)

    Welcome to Toronto!
