Looking for a Lawry's Guacamole Mix Clone

I've decided to try making my own taco seasoning (I got what seems to be a good recipe off but what I'm REALLY interested in is a Lawry's Guacamole Mix CLONE. We LOOOOOVE that stuff, and sadly don't like guacamole any other way. I don't suppose anyone out there has a clone recipe for this?

Brooke :)

Yes, I agree...but the OP says they only like guac vis a vis Lawry's each their own!

        i got that.
but i've just never heard of a guacamole mix.

Found it.....looks like a spice pack of onions, bell pepper, garlic, salt and other unknown entitites. I've never seen it before either. I am relieved to see that it is *NOT* some type of reconstituted avocado!

For the OP....really, just add minced onion (~ 1/4 c. for 2 mashed avocados), one clove crushed garlic, juice of 1/2 lime or lemon, salt to taste and maybe some minced red bell pepper. That should get you where you want to be.

If it is for tacos, though, as you mentioned. It will taste pretty lame without cumin and coriander as well.

    2. They've discontinued making the Lawry's guac mix. I saw this old posting. Did you every find a way to make it? That's the only way I like it too.

Here's a link to Lawry's with the ingredients listed at the bottom of the page. Just buy all the dehydrated ingredients and play with the should be able to get close. Note that maltodextrin is the main ingredient (aka sugar), so that may be what's missing from other things you try! Everytning else seems pretty standard.

Thanks!! So I take it the ingredients are in descending order of amount? Sounds like a lot of sugar. Really appreciate your help on this...

          1. re: josephrecipe

Ingredients are always listed in decending be the law!

Yes, its probably mostly sugar. If you look at the nutritional breakdown, you'll see that even though Calories=0, there is still 1g carbs. That's the sugar. Unfortunately, most processed foods have tons of sugar, which is what hooks people!

        2. re: josephrecipe

Lawry's no longer posts the ingredients but I found a link that at least has the ingredients.

          Here is the list...
          Bell Red Bell Pepper
          Garlic Powder
          Chili peppers
          White Pepper
          Citric Acid
          Natural Flavors

If anyone can figure out the correct amounts... please post the magic so we can all stop guessing!

          1. Oh, man--I hope you've found a way to recreate the recipe, because I am asked to bring that guacamole to every summer party, and now I can't find it anywhere! The company says, "Sorry," they're not making it any more :( Keeping my fingers crossed....
