What's the Sushi Gen alternative when the wait is too long?

I remember a few posts naming a very good spot near Gen that could be used by peeps not up for the wait -- anyone?

There was no wait at 8:30 at Gen.

It remains 1/2 the price and every bit as good as Zo, Mori, Hump, Kiriko, Shibichu, etc.
Cetainly less "flashy" with the rare fish, hand made sauces and other exotica that the others sport but a great meal anda great price.

Sushi Go 55 or Oomasa or, if I'm not hell-bent on sushi, Izayoi. Though on any given night, Izayoi & Oomasa would have wait times too...

Sushi Go 55, in the mall on the corner of 3rd & Alameda, is actually better than Sushi Gen on many occasions.

Has anyone else noticed a strong bleach smell at Sushi Go 55?

Didn't when I was there. But I gotta say, when I went, I felt somewhat deflated when I left. It was good Sushi, don't get me wrong, but I couls have gone to Asanebo or 4 on 6 near me and paid the same and had slightly better.

But if you're in Little Tokyo, and Gen is too long a wait, Go 55 is a good option. Or walk down the street to Fugestsudo and fill up on moci instead!

I liked Takami a lot -- just down the street. Many on the board also like Sushi Go 55, in the indoor mall which is also nearby.
