I need some suggestions for dinner on Christmas Eve. The particulars are for 3 people. Locations: Boston proper or Cambridge area. Reservations preferred. Price range around $30 an entree. All cuisines other than Indian and Japanese. Does not need to be a christmassy meal.

Thanks as always.

I did the Chart House on Long Wharf last year..and again this year. Not the city's best restaurant but fits well for the rest of my evening.. good prime rib and will meet your budget and they take reservations. Harbor's very pretty.

I like to hit the bar at Legal's for some oysters first.

We used to have a ritual of going to the Hungy I on Charles St. in Beacon Hill on Christmas Eve. Between the old charm of the neighborgood and the cozy, fireplaced townhouse, it was a great place for Christmas Eve. Good French food, great atmosphere, have no memory of the service so it was probably good. It's fairly quiet, so more conducive to conversation than partying.

How about West Side Lounge in Cambridge?

I have heard good things about the Dante feast of the seven fishes from last year.... and Grotto usually does it too. But these are prix fixe and maybe a bit more than you planned on.
