Menu Recs: Banana Leaves

Hey all,

I'm eating at Banana Leaves tonight, the new-ish Asian fusion place in DuPont. I've been to a bunch of those types of restaurants and the menus always look the same, so I'll always order a beef dish. I'd like to try something new. Has anybody been to Banana Leaves, and if so, what are your recs? Also, how was the experience overall?

Thanks!

I've eaten there once or twice but have had delivery from them numerous times. It is what it is, but for what it is, there are some nice items. I love the crab rangoon, which is meaty with crab and not too cream cheesey and served with a great spicy dipping sauce. I also like the Miracle shrimp, which is a bit weird, but tasty. There's another signature dish (can't remember what it's called) that has a variety of thai items and a fried egg. Pretty nice.
Regarding the sushi, I don't really trust it too much. When last I ordered it, I found it mealy and not so fresh.

I've been there a few times and have mostly enjoyed myself. The service can be hit-or-miss, though. They do a LOT of delivery business and their kitchen gets backed up very easily. We've often had to wait a while (longer than expected) to get our food. The quality varies also, but mostly it's been good. When they started they cut their sushi fairly large, which I thought was great. Now it's more "normal-sized," but still tasty. On the cooked side, I've had the Thai Stir-Fried Basil Leave [sic] (which is your basic Ka Prow), Mee Goreng, Curry Laksa, and the BaBa Curry. They were all good. I didn't particularly think the Miracle Shrimp was that much of a miracle, though.

Nothing really to add here, except their website gives me a headache:

But, they did stuff a carry out menu in my mailbox one day, so I'm quite excited that they might deliver to the Shaw/Logan Circle area.

Please do tell if there is something to be had here!
