dining place for ~40 people in South Bay

So I think I've been given a task that's literally impossible.

Our company in Torrance is hosting a meeting in January for ~40 people, and I've been asked to come up with recommendations for feeding all our guests. So far, I've been told that I need to find a "nice" lunch caterer (darnit...Seven Susans is too busy) and also recommendations on places to take them out for dinner.

So far I've only come up with the Depot & Restaurant Christine, as well as Sea Empress.

Oh, and here's what makes it impossible: Management would *prefer* if I stayed in the Torrance/Gardena area...which is a nightmare for me.

Do any fellow CH'ers have any advice before I go nuts? If it's outside the Torrance/Gardena area, it's okay. I'll just present them a list of places and tell them that it's impossible to stay in this area.

Thanks, all!

  1. I think Christine is a great choice for your dinner. Another option might be Gina Lee's Bistro in Redondo Beach, but it is a small place so you might have to buy them out. In contrast, I believe that Christine has a private room for special events. And Christine has a more upscale feel.

    1. Lunch Caterer = Kotosh Kamiyama - Peruvian & Sushi - Lomita

Dinner - Christine's private room holds up to 45.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Kotosh Kamiyama for lunch catering...good call. JBC has it right. These are two good picks, and there's no need to go nuts!

      2. We've had luncheons at the Home Depot Stadium which was very elegant. Also, at the Holiday Inn on Vermont which can handle your crowd. I like the Depot where chef Mike Shafer does a good job with his courteous staff. There isn't very may places in Gardena that can accommodate a large crowd especially at lunchtime except for the ones you've mentioned. You can try Paradise on Vermont and 190th. They might be able to help you?
