Looking for a place to pick up a good quality ham (cured/smoked, not fresh) to cook for Christmas dinner. Places near Middle Village/Forrest Hills would be best, but I'm willing to travel.
Try Moshe's Pork Store on Catalpa Ave. in Ridgewood, Cross street is Woodward Ave., just off Forest Ave.
I recommended Muncan Food in this thread: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/471034
They also have locations in Ridgewood.
-----Muncan Food Corp.675 Seneca Ave, Queens, NY 11385
Muncan Food Corp.60-86 Myrtle Ave, Queens, NY 11385
Western Beef (several locations) carries Smithfield Co. hams. Make sure you soak it for a while in several changes of water.
I have not been there is a while, I would give D'Alessando food market a try. I use to go there pretty much for the meat. 4607 Hollis Court Blvd Flushing. I would give them a call .
